Subject of Insurance

The subject of the insurance is tangible movable property that is being transported by the policyholder or the insured using motor vehicles.

The subject of insurance may include:

  • Own property owned or co-owned by the policyholder or the insured
  • Foreign property in use, which is property that the policyholder or the insured uses under a contractual agreement
  • Foreign property taken over, which is property that the policyholder or the insured has taken over under a contract, order, or work order

The subject of insurance does not include foreign property taken over for the purpose of transportation (transportation contract) or for arranging transportation (freight forwarding contract).

Basic Insurance of Goods during Road Transport

The basic insurance of goods during road transport covers damage or destruction of the insured item caused by:

  • Vehicle accident
  • Fire and its accompanying phenomena
  • Explosion, direct lightning strike
  • Falling trees, poles, or other objects, provided they are not part of the damaged item or part of the same set as the damaged item
  • Flood or inundation, storm, or hailstorm
  • Landslide, rockfall or soil collapse, avalanche collapse or rockfall, earthquake

Additional Insurance of Goods during Road Transport

Additional insurance of goods during road transport can be arranged for cases of theft of the insured item, which occurred:

  • Through theft where the perpetrator has demonstrably overcome barriers protecting the insured item from theft
  • Through robbery

Insurance Event

An insurance event for intra-company transport insurance is damage or destruction of the insured item caused by an insured peril agreed upon and stated in the insurance contract during the term of the insurance and at the place of insurance.
